Life After Ball.
Growing up, my mama always told me you can’t play ball forever, and one day you’ll lace up those cleats for the last time. When I committed to Norfolk State University, I had no idea that statement would come to fruition but it did. My final day of practice, my last snap of organized football, was played at this illustrious university, and in that moment, reality truly set in.
Change: The only thing in the universe that remains the same is change, those who can adapt preserve, and those who cannot merely fade away, change.
When football ended for me, I was forced to make a choice: either sit in my pain and uncertainty about what lay ahead, or step out and discover who I really am. I can proudly say that in my years after ball, I not only adjusted and found my place in society, but I believe I exceeded expectations and accomplished more than I ever might have if I had continued playing. There was pain, and there was plenty of failure but in the end, I persevered, and I can confidently say I’ve done well.
Now, I am graduated from The Norfolk State University with my Bachelor of Science, and I will be attending Hampton University for the next three years to pursue my Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree. Without God, none of this would be possible, and I am deeply proud and grateful for His role in my journey.
