In my sketchbooks I work from dark to light using water-based mixed media to loosen up my painting approach. I cover these techniques and many more tips for freeing up your landscape painting in my online course (see link in bio). I’m also planning to introduce a new course soon following on from these ideas by taking sketches into finished paintings #contemporarylandscapepainting #expressivepainting #onlinecourse #artworkshops #contemporarypainting

This has always been my frustration with watercolour - having to work light to dark and preserving your lights. Using gouache as well would be a game changer and not something I've ever tried. Thank you for the tip! Love your painting ❤️
