Amma, this is for you! —

Mathey was one of my Mum’s favourite compositions in Raga Kamas by Muthaiah Bhagavathar. I first heard this raga in life as a young toddler in my mum’s voice and today I play it in memory of my dear mum. I hope you can hear this wherever you are! Mother’s Day Weeks are always the toughest on children who have lost their mums but music acts as an incredibly binding force across time and space and this is one way I still get to talk to my mum. Love you, Amma ❤️

The composition is traditionally treated with some contemporarised production elements by yours truly. I hope you enjoy it.

P.s: This kurta was one of the first ever kurtas my mum had gifted me when I started playing classical a couple of decades ago. I still love it and I still wear it on stage for good luck!
