A man identified as Biggie wa Deals was arrested after receiving KSh 43,320 mistakenly sent to his M-Pesa account by a businessman.
Instead of returning the money, he switched off his phone, removed his SIM card and disappeared. Investigations later led detectives to a local club, where he was found enjoying himself after spending the money.
The man was taken into police custody and is awaiting court proceedings. DCI has warned Kenyans that keeping or spending money sent to them by mistake can lead to criminal charges.
