Went to Walmart for toiletries and left with some of our favorite snacks 😂 Did you know Walmart sold these items? 👀 I never expected to find our favorite cereal…
When it comes to packaged foods, read the ingredients before anything else. The nutrition label is important as you want to understand serving size. The ingredients list tells you what you’re actually eating. If you can’t pronounce it, picture it, or find it in a kitchen, that’s a red flag 🚩 and I’d likely put it back. Getting curious about what you’re putting in your body (and how much) and learning how to make informed choices when it comes to food is one of the greatest investments you can make for your health.
People like to ask, “Is this healthy?” and my answer is usually “compared to what?” Chips are still chips and ice cream is still ice cream, but if you’re going to reach for anything packaged, let it be the version that’s made with ingredients you understand. The goal should always be as many nutrient dense, whole foods as possible (think meat, fish, greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, etc). You can eat all the healthier-for-you snacks and still be missing out on the basics of enough protein and fiber, proper hydration, and a well balanced diet that leaves you energized and feeling your best. 💛
