6 months agoThey look incredible! I was getting motivated to order them for my car until when I read your experience. I’m glad you figured most things out. Hoping they’re great quality so you don’t have to contact them again 🤞🙌
6 months ago1. The centerbore of the wheel was painted, which made it impossible to mount the wheel to the hub. I had to grind off paint from my brand new wheels to get them on my car. After multiple follow ups via email and Instagram, Compomotive said that this was intentional, to create a tight motorsport fit. Uhhh what?!? A hub bore is a hub bore, and a wheel fits or it doesn’t. 2. The lug bolt seats were also painted, which was very surprising for a supposedly-premium wheel company. This is just wheel painting 101 — there shouldn’t be paint between the lug bolt and lug seat. 3. These wheels require lug bolts 5mm longer than the standard BMW lug bolt. Of course, there was no mention of this, I just happened to notice that there was hardly any thread engagement with stock lug bolts. This is a safety issue. 4. And finally, there was no mention of the nearly 50% customs duty I would be hit with in order to receive the wheels. When I contacted Compomotive asking them to confirm that the amount was correct and whether I should pay DHL directly, they simply ghosted me. Confusingly, the stated customs charges for auto parts is 25%, but the amount for the wheels was nearly 50%. Why? I’ll never know, because Compomotive won’t respond. All in all, a disappointing experience from a brand that I otherwise used to regard very highly.
