I found this photograph by accident today..
hidden between ordinary things,
quietly waiting for me
like a memory refusing to fade.
And there you were, Appa.
Feeding cake to your little girl
as if time would always be kind to us.
I stared at this picture for so long…
at your hands,
your eyes,
the way love sat so naturally on your face.
Back then,
I didn’t know moments could become sacred later.
I didn’t know one photograph
would someday feel like a doorway
to everything I miss.
I wish I could sit beside you again,
just once...
hear your voice without replaying it in my mind,
feel the safety of being your daughter
without grief standing between us.
The little girl in this picture
still reaches for you, Appa.
And maybe she always will.
Because no matter how many years pass,
some love ❤️ never learn how to leave.
People say grief softens with time,
but some losses
become part of your breathing.
I don’t just miss you sometimes…
I miss you in ordinary moments,
in quiet drives,
in good news,
in hard days,
in all the spaces where a daughter still reaches for her dad.
There are so many things
I wish I could tell you now.
So many versions of me
you never got to meet.
But somewhere deep inside,
I still carry your voice,
your warmth,
your love 🥹
like a home I can never return to,
yet never truly left.
I miss you every single day, Appa. 🤍
