I successfully concluded my SDG 5 Gender Equality Awareness Outreach in a secondary school, where I had the opportunity to engage and educate over 250 students. During this session,we discussed menstrual hygiene awareness, and creating safe, informed, and inclusive spaces for young people. It was also important to ensure that the boys were not left out of the conversation, as we emphasized their role in promoting respect, support, and understanding.
One of the most inspiring parts of the outreach was seeing how eager the students were to learn, ask questions, and understand more about gender equality and the importance of creating inclusive communities. Their curiosity and participation reminded me why conversations like this truly matter.
A major highlight for me was the encouragement and appreciation from the Vice Principal, who commended the initiative and emphasized the need for more impactful outreaches like this in schools. That moment was both motivating and reassuring.
This experience strengthened my belief that awareness, education, and meaningful conversations can shape a better future for young people.
Grateful for the opportunity to make an impact through the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Nigeria
