This Tuesday June 23rd from 18:30 to 20:00 I will be in dialogue with the artist and machine learning researcher Julia Nueno Guitart @julia_nueno, a member of Forensic Architecture @forensicarchitecture. Julia is doing extraordinarily important work on the use of different AI algorithms and models by the IDF in Gaza, and on the question of how other types of AI can be used to record, document, and investigate the ongoing genoc*de. Together we will discuss in what ways AI is currently introducing new “truth regimes” and how to counter the current military uses of AI with other types of AI, capable of producing different kinds of forensic visual “evidence”.
The event is part of a series entitled “Visual Truth Regimes”, organized by Laliv Melamed @lalivlal (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt), Felix Trauttmann (Institut für Sozialforschung / HBK Braunschweig), and Franziska Wildt (Institut für Sozialforschung). It will be hosted in the spaces of the Institut für Sozialforschung on the second floor of the Dondorf Druckerei in Frankfurt, the same building where the exhibition “The World Through AI” is presented.
