🎃 Happy Halloween from New York City 🎃
When people say “high sugar,” they often mean donuts, chocolate, ice cream, cookies, cake and pastries. Most of those foods get around half their calories from fat. Hardly anyone overeats spoonfuls of plain sugar. Sugar isn’t uniquely fattening. Fat gain comes from eating more energy than you burn. For example, in one study two groups ate the same calories, but one got 121 g of sugar a day and the other 12 g. Both lost about 7 kg in 6 weeks and saw similar improvements in blood pressure. The real issue is calorie-dense, hyper-palatable fat + sugar foods, because they’re less filling and easy to overeat. Sugary drinks are the one exception as liquid calories don’t fill you up much, so they add up fast (aka just have the zero calorie soft drink instead of the sugary one). Obviously the above doesn’t mean sugar should make up half your diet. Most of what you eat should still be whole foods, with plenty of fibre, protein, fruit and veg. But if your calories are in check and your diet is mostly good, you don’t need to fear sugar.

CVS Health plans to split into two separate public companies by the first half 2028, in what would be one of the largest corporate splits in history, the company announced Wednesday. The move would reverse the company’s massive $78 billion acquisition of its insurer, Aetna, and dismantle the vertically integrated healthcare conglomerate it created in 2018. The plan would specifically separate CVS’s roughly 9,000 retail pharmacies from its major insurance business and pharmacy benefit manager, Caremark, one of the nation’s three largest PBMs. The decision follows a “comprehensive strategic review” by the company’s board of directors, according to a release. Still recovering from this trip to Shanghai 🥹 what an amazing time we had visiting our community and exploring the city! I hope to come back again soon 🤍 📸: @uhohmarty
Strong > Skinny 🔥😤 The biggest difference between these two physiques? FOOD!! Both were built through intense training and discipline but learning to eat more and properly fuel my body has made such a difference. More food means more energy to push yourself in the gym and build the muscle you're working so hard for :) Being lean year-round isn't my goal right now!!! I want to keep getting stronger and improving my physique for next season…FOOD IS FUEL 🫰😛 #bodybuilding #gymgirl #bulk #motivation #gym
