“Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too!”
-Yogi Berra
As a baseball parent, I’ve come to realize that this game is about so much more than wins, losses, strike outs, batting averages, or championships.
It’s about watching your boys grow into young men of character, resilience, humility, and faith. It’s about seeing them challenged, pushed beyond their comfort zones, and shaped by experiences that will stay with them long after the final game is played.
God has blessed our boys with coaches who teach the game, but what they often teach is far greater—accountability, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and how to handle both success and adversity. We watch teammates become brothers, united by early mornings, long road trips, tough losses, big victories, and countless memories in between.
What is under appreciated is how the baseball community is woven into the fabric of our family story. The parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends who fill the stands, travel the miles, share meals, celebrate successes, and offer support during disappointments become much more than fellow spectators. They become friends who feel like family.
Season after season, you spend so much time together and your lives become intertwined. You cheer for each other’s kids, celebrate milestones together, and share a unique bond that only comes from loving and supporting these young men through their journey.
Each season eventually ends. The uniforms are put away. The scoreboards go dark.
But the relationships remain.
The lessons learned, the memories made, and the people who walked alongside us through each season leave a lasting imprint on our hearts. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Baseball has given our sons an opportunity to grow, learn, and become incredible men. I am so very proud of these boys and pray that the season ahead carries the blessings from the one that proceeded it. Keep chasing your dreams, boys! We love you beyond measure ❤️⚾️
