Dr. Maureen McKiernan ('08) turned her passion for science into a career as a cardiac surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she specializes in pediatric cardiac surgery and heart transplantation. Her journey—from chemistry student and rower at K-State to one of the few women practicing cardiac surgery at her institution—is a testament to the power of perseverance, curiosity, and hard work.
