a month agoI think its almost exasperated in Fort mac. Since other towns pay techs even less lol
2 months agoIts the fuel cost. Flat bed used more fuel in a day then a service will burns in 2 week
3 months agoNot just your trade either, im a oilfield sparky and these companys complain at the price of labor and parts like ok pal you do it then stop calling me lol
4 months agoGot paid more to run a mini ex (class 5 at the time) then I do as a heavy mechanic with a class 3 and air😕 for the love of the game at this point
4 months agoI think the majority of mechanics need to find something else to do until these companies decide to pay rates that make sense
4 months agoIt used to be good, but mechanics are terrible businessmen who are always out to cut each others at every move. There's always another bottom feeder willing to show up on site for $20-40/hr cheaper. Don't even get me started on the welders with cranes on their trucks cosplaying as mechanics.
4 months agoAnd if you’re talking owner operator and dealing with customers, it’s the same thing, really. Your service truck is a cost cost cost, the flatbed is bringing something that is part of the revenue generating side. Lazy accounting and probably not a good customer to have over the long term. The good ones get it. Usually the areas where the negative is the norm has an either plethora of hired guns who work cheap or one or two guys who don’t know their worth and undercut themselves by being too nice.
