It takes an incredible amount of power to breach the surface of the ocean when you weigh upwards of 40,000kg. When the Humpback Whales make these fierce jumps out of the water, it is an unmistakable display of their true size. Massive mammals who share their close relatives with modern-day deer more than the non-mammalian vertebrates in the water. Well this is the only way to see them without getting into the water! From a tour of the Kenai Fjords in the Resurrection Bay, Alaska.

These are tough to capture! I saw one in British Columbia, but since they move fast, I simply don't know where they can pop out of . Got some shots of the fin, at best.
