Cross-stepping — that smooth walk along the board that somehow manages to look completely calm, casual, and effortless.

But like most things in surfing… the smoother it looks, the harder it actually is.

Cross stepping is all about balance, timing, rhythm, and trust. Tiny shifts in weight. Subtle movements. A mix of tension and calm all happening at once. One wrong step and the moment disappears.

That contrast is what inspired this piece.
The interplay of light and shadow. The texture and tone of the water and board.
The feeling of movement balanced against stillness. There’s an energy to it — but also a kind of quiet. 🌴☀️
