A while ago I went to CDMX, here’s how it went…

I believe this trip has been in the works for about four years now. There have been moments of being locked into the idea of going, ultimately having to shelve it. Each year that passed, I’d make a resolution of traveling to another country by myself. Though it never happened. Recently there’s been an evident shift in my life that I wish it didn’t feel so see-through. From having to deal with failures, unwelcome gossip, unexpected heartbreaks and even humiliation. Every brick that was thrown at me was ultimately an attempt to bring out the worst in me. I come forward because I did an intense amount of reflecting while walking the streets of another country.

I am someone that has a strange passion for being by themself. Trying to explain that to others has always been tricky. If I had to pinpoint, it strongly suggests the way I grew up. I’ve always been identified as the “serio” kid. Often not having anything to say, but just being presently there. In a way, I still resonate the kid I used to be. However, being silent is no longer avoidant. I realized I didn’t want to be in the sidelines anymore. Thereafter, I implemented the change I needed to become a better individual.

Having already gone through half of 2026, time has healed me. Stepping out of my thick shell was a challenge, but was ultimately rewarding. As the world keeps spinning out of control, I remind myself to keep a vigorous mindset. The saying goes you can’t always control what happens, but you can control how you react to it. Mistake and error are fundamentally a part of us, but they do not define us. As I continue to heal and discover, I grow more passionate towards myself and the ones around me. Witnessing love in Mexico was charming. It felt organic and achingly desirable. I wanted to fulfill this feeling back home in hopes that I could find deeper purpose.
