A year ago today…

After a week of trying every trick to speed up her arrival, we finally gave in. We relaxed, trusted the process, and that’s when my water broke during my doctor’s visit, eight days after my due date. We knew today was the day. I remember feeling an incredible sense of peace. Like I knew exactly what I was doing.
We stayed home for as long as we could. I breathed through every contraction while Sean stayed by my side, breathing with me and counting the minutes between them. When they got too close, he looked at me and said, “It’s time.”
Thanks to my incredible birth team, my midwife, my doula, and my amazing husband - my birth was everything I had hoped for - candlelight, beautiful music, and a room filled with calm, strength, and love.

At 10:35 p.m., she arrived.

My calm, strong little girl.

Today she turns one.

As I lie next to her tonight, I still can’t believe she’s mine. Where did this year go?
Thank you, my sweet Sofia, for choosing me to be your mama. It is the greatest honor, the greatest gift, and the greatest blessing of my life.

Happy first birthday, my beautiful girl.
