Happy 77th birthday, Anna Wintour! To celebrate, we revisit the BBC documentary Boss Woman (2000), which offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at Wintour as she oversees the production of American Vogue.

Filmed during the creation of the magazine’s February issue, the documentary follows her from the Vogue offices in New York to the couture shows in Paris, capturing the demanding world of fashion publishing, her editorial decision-making and the people working alongside her, including then-Vogue writer Plum Sykes.

Directed by Christine Hall for BBC1.

Back pain treatments usually focus on easing the ache. A new injectable gel is aiming to fix the problem at its source 🦴💉

The discs between the bones in your spine act like shock absorbers, but injuries and aging can wear them down over time, often leading to chronic back pain.

Scientists are developing a hydrogel that can be injected into damaged discs to help repair the tissue and bring back some of their original structure. In a 2024 study, researchers tested it on damaged human spinal discs outside the body and saw encouraging gains in disc height and how well the discs handled pressure.

It’s still early. The gel needs more research and clinical trials before doctors can use it regularly, but if it pans out, it could someday help people heal their discs instead of living with the pain.
