Jayson Borenstein

Today is Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday and I’m celebrating by announcing that I will be producing one of his long overlooked musicals, “archy & mehitabel” at the 2026 Philadelphia Fringe Festival!

This bare bones, bizarre musical takes us to a typewriter as cockroach, poet, philosopher, and moralist, archy (who's too small to hold down the shift key), tries hopelessly to bring alley cat, mehitabel, into a respectable home as a housecat.

I am incredibly excited to be making my independent producing debut by bringing this rarely performed golden age gem, co-written by one of my personal heroes to the stage! Tickets will go on sale July 18 at PhillyFringe.org.

I am also excited to share that this production is powered by @producerhubdotorg, meaning that all contributions to this show are 100% tax-deductible! Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will have a tremendous impact in making this production possible. Donations can be made via the link in my bio.

Stay tuned for casting announcements and more updates! 🪳🐈
