They showed up.

That simple act is where every work of art begins.

Art has never been about certainty. It has always been about stepping toward the unknown—not asking what is impossible or dwelling on the difficult, but boldly discovering what becomes possible when we say yes.

This week, these remarkable UNLV Dance students accepted that invitation. They traveled to our nation’s capital, stepped onto a stage, trusted one another, braved the rain, and became the dance. More importantly, they became the kind of artists who move not only through space, but through the hearts and imaginations of those watching.

You came.
You said yes.
You became the dance.
You became the art.
You moved…
and you moved those who witnessed you.

Bravo to @mckinley_silence @hunterwallce_ @chloe_reahm @karen_daniela_1510 @let_itrayne @aricela_boatwright @london_ross_ @laurennkochie who embraced this extraordinary experience, to our faculty choreographers and to our production design team and whose artistry traveled with them every step of the way. And bravo to Erick Hawkins. @erickhawkinsdance We proudly carry your legacy forward.

Choreography is not simply movement—it is possibility made visible, the human emotional landscape sculpted in time and space.

The UNLV Department of Dance extends its deepest gratitude to Mary Anne Carter, the National Endowment for the Arts, @neaarts , the Meridian Center for Culture and Sports Diplomacy @meridianintl , : TK Harvey, Hannah Ettelstein, Ryan Oberlag, Beverlianne Green, Katherine Duke, and the Erick Hawkins Dance Foundation for helping bring these performances into the world.

The arts in America are a vast and improbable garden—filled with wildflowers, ancient trees, unexpected colors, and new growth appearing where no one imagines it could.

They flourish because there are those willing to tend the soil, carry the water, and protect the seeds of possibility.

Thank you for believing in artists.
Thank you for believing in students.
Thank you for helping beauty, imagination, and human connection continue to bloom.

The garden is more beautiful because all of you showed up.
