HU Staff: Ariela Anís @ari.anis Congratulations! Democrat Chris Pappas will become the first openly gay man in the United States Senate after winning New Hampshire’s open Senate seat. Pappas has defeated Republican former Senator John E. Sununu. ___________________________________________________ The Associated Press was the first to project the win on Tuesday evening (November 3). The achievement now makes Pappas the state’s first openly gay male senator. The four-term U.S. Representative will now succeed Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who is retiring. ___________________________________________________ Pappas’ opponent, Sununu, previously served in the Senate from 2003 to 2009. Sununu had sought a political comeback, arguing how he would be willing to challenge his party when needed. While reacting to the win, Pappas shared his gratitude to New Hampshire on social media. ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 MSNOW
