Spent some time today filming in Rawalpindi. I’ve never seen a city so alive. What is most foreign to me is the kindness and generosity I am shown by nearly every person I speak with. Even walking past someone on the street I am greeted with a smile. It’s hard to feel like a stranger when at least once an hour someone insists that I come in and sit for tea and food.

The Lunch Story.. @utkarsha_naik took me for some Diwali shopping at Dadar (the obvious destination for all Mumbaikars! 😂), and then insisted we stop at a restaurant called “Fish Curry Rice”. Now, imagine taking a pure vegetarian to a place with THAT name! 😂 I was a little sceptical, but turns out, she knew exactly what she was doing! Switched my phone to dark mode for a laugh - Unfortunately Instagram keeps flagging posts as unoriginal so I’ve started writing bigger paragraphs underneath everything to try and stop it happening. Had a few posts get caught by it the other day and had to delete them which is why I’m doing this now. You’ve probably noticed loads of accounts suddenly putting massive AI captions under posts for the same reason. I’d rather just write my own rubbish instead. Fèt Gede, the Festival of the Dead, is one of the most sacred and powerful celebrations on the Haitian Vodou calendar. Held every year on November 1 and 2, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, it is a time when families and Vodouists gather in cemeteries across Haiti to honor the ancestors with offerings, rituals, drums, and the signature banda dance.⁠ ⁠ Also known as the Festival of the Ancestors, Fèt Gede (Fèt = Festival, Gede = the sacred dead) is far more than remembrance.
