Ducks and Degas?
Towards sunset yesterday, this group of female mallards was lined up on some concrete sticking up from the water on a quiet shady stretch of the North Branch of the Chicago River.
It was such an appealing scene.
As I watched, Degas' drawings of dancers backstage popped into my head.
To me, these female ducks companionably sharing some backstage time, preening and resting, convey a similar mood to Degas' dancers.
Do you see it too?

Hi Amy, Sorry my eyesight from Ottawa is poor! Nice that you could enjoy it . We have a female mallard that has decided to use our swimming pool today. Fortunately it is large and she isn’t bothering anyone. How the heck are you???? Miss seeing the family.
