A Love Letter to Georgia,
We weren’t sure how long we’d stay, only that we felt pulled to take the chance. So we took a leap of faith and trusted that this was where we were supposed to be for this season. What we didn’t know then was that it would become one of the most meaningful chapters of our lives.
Thank you for being the place where we got to reset, slow down, start over, and learn how to breathe again.
Thank you for caring for us during one of the hardest seasons of our life. For stretching us, growing us, and teaching us lessons we didn’t know we needed. For reminding us that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is leave what’s familiar and trust that something beautiful is waiting on the other side.
We will miss Saturday mornings at the Alpharetta Farmers Market. The endless trees and beautiful trails. The BeltLine walks that somehow always turned into an adventure. The strangers who became conversation partners because that’s just what people do here. The kindness.
We will miss the random visits with our nieces. I’ll miss finding our way back to church. We will miss the incredible people who loved us, encouraged us, and accepted us exactly as we were during a season when we needed it most.
We will miss the vibrant Black community—filled with beauty, creativity, excellence, culture, and boldness. We will miss the energy, the entrepreneurship, and the feeling that anything is possible.
We will miss our beloved Publix (Pub Sub for life!!). We will miss the countless miles logged through Hartsfield-Jackson, we really put that airport to work.
Most of all, we will miss the version of myself that Georgia helped shape.
This chapter gave us more than memories. It gave us confidence, perspective and our family. It gave us proof that we could build a life somewhere new and make it our own.
Now it’s time to go home—to our village, our family, and the people who have been waiting with open arms. And while we’re excited for what’s next, we’ll always be grateful for what was.
No regrets. No “what ifs.” Just gratitude.
Thank you, Georgia, for one of the most beautiful chapters of our story.
Chicago, we’re coming home.
With love,
The Greens💚
