@brandsanderson announced in an interview with @literarysewer that @appletv has ordered 10 EPISODES of the Stormlight Archive! Now, if this is JUST The Way of Kings, and each episode is an hour or more, I think we’ll hold true to the book! What do you think?!

Y’all… SOTR audiobook: 12 hours 48 minutes (~13 hours) Movie length: ~2 hours 30 minutes —> 13/2.5 ≈ 5.2 book hours per hour of screen time TFOTR audiobook: 22 hours 38 minutes (~23 hours) Movie length: ~3 hours —> 23/3 ≈ 7.6 book hours per hour of screen time TWOK audiobook: 45 hours 30 minutes Show length: 10 episodes ~1 hour/episode —> 45.5/10 ≈ 4.55 book hours per hour of screen time WaT audiobook: 62 hours 48 minutes (~63 hours) Show length: 10 episodes ~1 hour/episode —> 63/10 ≈ 6.3 book hours per hour of screen time Time sits comfortably below Lord of the Rings. The Way of Kings has less to cover per hour of screen time than the upcoming Sunrise on the Reaping movie. We’ll be fine

It’s perfect. I have been saying this for years. The number ten is already significant in the stormlight archive. And That episode number per season fits perfectly. You do 10, 10 episode seasons two episodes for each part of each book except for wind and truth each day gets one episode and then the end you have a nice round 100 episodes (then you add the Novella’s into the rest of the story just as parts of the episodes.

I’m excited I really do think 10 episodes is long enough to adapt TWOK well. Some of them can be longer than an hour if needed, maybe even nearly two hours for some. And with this, I really don’t think a lot of cuts will be required. Maybe a few, and maybe a little condensing. Certain aspects could be done in montages (Bridge 4 training montages for instance). Just look at the first season of GOT, and what they did in roughly 10 hours with way more POV characters and frankly more story beats. Sure TWOK goes in deeper with each characters, but I definitely think it’s doable. I think half the book in a whole season would not be satisfying, especially to casual viewers

In brandom i trust or adaptation are just not worth it any longer. Stack the pressure on brandon to fix the timeline!
