Happy 4th!!! During the Bicentennial in 1976 my parents followed a troop of reenact-ors throughout the northeast for many months. These reenactments followed the paths and battles of the military units from the Revolutionary War.
My father was an amateur lover of the Revolutionary and an amateur photographer, so when he got this opportunity he jumped at it and I saw these slides so many times and the stories as well. Some of his photos were even published in newspapers. Was told how amazing the Bicentennial was and how people showed in huge crowds to watch these battles.
Few things to look out for, Queen Elizabeth showing up with Prince Phillip to dedicate a plaque in Boston. The man jumping into the river was attempting to assassinate Gerald Ford at Lexington & Concord. Also protesters against the Queen while the trouble in Ireland continued.
Enjoy these photos because otherwise they were just living in my hard drive 😉
