Lenny Kravitz Breaks Silence After Internet Declares Him Dead in Florida Plane Crash That Killed 9

Blogged by: Grace L.

Lenny Kravitz is alive and well, despite disturbing rumors circulating across social media claiming the legendary musician was among nine people killed in a devastating private jet crash in Florida.

The 62-year-old rock star became the subject of a viral death hoax after a Learjet 60 crashed into a residential neighborhood in Palm Beach County on Sunday, November 1. The tragedy claimed the lives of everyone aboard, but online speculation quickly and incorrectly connected Kravitz to the aircraft.

According to TMZ, the confusion began when social media users mistakenly identified a female pilot as one of the people operating the doomed jet. The pilot had previously shared a photograph revealing that she had flown Kravitz along a similar route. That connection was apparently enough for some internet users to assume the Grammy-winning singer had been aboard the aircraft.

As the false reports gained attention, Kravitz’s representatives stepped in to address the speculation.

“The reports are untrue and incorrect,” his team told TMZ.

The female pilot who was wrongly linked to the crash also addressed the situation in a TikTok statement, confirming that she had nothing to do with the fatal flight.

“I was recently made aware that there are rumors that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach. I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation on this tragedy and be respectful of those involved. My heart goes out to all those lost and affected.”

The deadly crash occurred around 12:50 p.m. Sunday near the Cresthaven neighborhood, approximately eight miles from President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Learjet 60 departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was traveling to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it suddenly went down in a residential area.

All nine people aboard were killed.

Lucien Smith spent his August making new ‘Rain Paintings’ at an abandoned Montauk baseball field in a return to his early-career stardom and what would be his final exhibition.

The four large-scale pieces are now on view in ‘Delay of Game,’ an ongoing show at @tripoligallery, whose title draws from a baseball call: when rain stops the play, the grounds crew roll out a tarp to protect the field. For Smith, the tarp catches the paint.

The speckled canvases emit a meditative quality, reflecting Smith’s own inner state when he made them. “A process like this is a gift,” he said. “When I was younger I thought I needed to keep looking, that landing on one thing so early meant I’d be missing something. I let the market and outside criticism dictate my practice, and that was a mistake. Life has taken me full circle. I think it is time to return to the process I was given.”

‘Delay of Game’ is now on view until November 23. Read more via the link in bio.
