The Burger Trail 065 // The Hideaway Bar // Orlando FL
This was my Plan C for the evening and you know what they say… third restaurant’s a charm. I saw The Hideaway Bar on a best Orlando burgers list and I’m always skeptical of a bar burger cause you just never know how seriously they’re taking their kitchen. Well this kitchen stays open until 1 AM which either means Bobby the Bartender is just throwing stuff from the freezer on the grill (as he rolls his eyes when a food order comes in) or there’s a cook back there because the food orders keep coming all night. Luckily this was the latter. This place advertises “half pound hand pattied all beef burgers” so someone is taking some pride in Hideaway burgers. I got the Plain Old Cheeseburger that comes with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard, and ketchup. The burger was juicy, the veggies were fresh, and the bun was fluffy. For a thicker burger I think an opportunity was missed to cook the patty a little less and season in layers - but it was nonetheless a good burger. I’m giving it a B+ on overall flavor though it was maybe more impressive than that for a late night bar burger. I also must add that the homemade chips were surprisingly good. On the menu it says “served with chips” which set my expectations real real low (like bag of plain Lays low) so the menu doesn’t do it justice. The service was the least impressive offering here especially on a not terribly busy night. But cheers to The Hideaway Bar for a handmade bar burger served late!
