This has been sitting in my drafts for months because
In all honesty, I am sometimes ashamed of the things I have done the way I acted, dressed, spoke, and the many sins I once enjoyed.
The word says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
God truly leaves the ninety-nine for the one. My eyes and ears were closed to the path of destruction that comes from living for this sinful world. But God opened my eyes, my ears, and my heart. He changed my desires, the way I dressed, the way I spoke, the way I thought, behave and the way I lived not by force, but through His love.
That process began in the summer of 2024 when I gave Him my full “yes,” was baptized, and chose Him over my own desires, ambitions, vision board, and long-term plans. Every time He asked me to surrender something I was attached to, I wrestled with Him. I was disobedient. I delayed what He had prepared for me because I thought I had everything figured out and that I could follow Jesus and still be part of this world ( one foot in).
But one thing I’ve learned is this: my plans are not His plans. My understanding is not His understanding. My will is not His will. It is only when we die to ourselves that He is able to lead us on the path we were created to walk.
Today, there is not a single sin I surrendered to God that I want back. Do I still fall short of his glory? …..everyday, do I sin daily ? Yes …but I feel convicted and repent and ask for God to help me, renew my mind. The more you grow to love the father the more you will hate sin because it grieves him.
Following Jesus is not about a list of things you are no longer “allowed” to do. It is about trusting that whatever God asks you to let go of, He will replace with something infinitely better.
So if you’re afraid, if you don’t know how to let go of sin, ask God. Ask Him to remove the desire, to change your heart, to take you out of environments that pull you away from Him, and to distance you from relationships that lead you toward destruction. He is faithful to do it.
He did it for me 🤍
