This film doc will be a surprise for nearly all, including me. It's worth a check-out. The space reminds me of ZTZU art space back in the 80's. Big sur with these poets and a few friends was a trip in now time/no time and back some. the CARMA BUMS performed there & my honeymoon w Dee RIP was in a cabin on the river. Nepenthe was booked for an hour & 1/2, could hardly see sky- those durn Sequoias... None of this will be revealed in the doc.

Dilip Puri was the Station House Officer (SHO) of Khategaon in Madhya Pradesh. Late on Sunday night, Dewas SP Aditya Mishra received an intelligence that a truck loaded with illicit liquor was smuggling its way from Harda toward Gujarat via Indore. Acting on the tip-off, SP Mishra plotted more than five police teams to check the transit routes across the district. As part of the team, Dilip went out to the front lines himself. He was standing on the dark road of the Harda–Nemawar highway to lead the vehicle checks. Late into the night, the suspected truck came barreling toward the checkpoint. Dilip stepped onto the road, raised his flashlight, and clearly signaled the vehicle to pull over. Instead of slowing down, the driver slammed his foot onto the accelerator. The heavy truck rammed directly into Dilip, dragging and running over him on the road. After the brutal impact, the driver drove a short distance ahead, abandoned the truck by the roadside, and fled into the dark bushes. Dilip died on the spot alongside his team before medical help could arrive. Since then, the police have seized the truck and all the liquor inside. They have filed murder charges and sent out search teams across the borders to track down the runaway driver and the people behind the racket. Now, a video of his wife standing and praying beside his body has spread all over the internet. People are breaking down seeing her hands still carrying the red mehendi meant to protect the man she just lost. But a video can make people cry for a day, but once the tears dry up, the fight for justice cannot be forgotten. Tributes are not enough. The man who chose to run him down and the gang that loaded that truck and everyone who was behind this must be caught and given the strictest punishment. True respect for Dilip will only come when the people who killed him are put behind bars.

I’m so glad I kept this old writing desk, even though we didn’t have room for it when we moved.
