Do you believe in ghosts?
I’m not sure if Ian is messing with me… or if something else is going on. We’re staying in a castle that dates back to the 1350s, a place filled with centuries of history. A family we recently met shared an old legend with us about mirrors in ancient castles. They said that after nightfall, mirrors can become gateways for wandering spirits. In old European folklore, some believed that good fairies—or guardian spirits—would mysteriously turn or cover mirrors to protect those sleeping nearby, keeping darker forces from crossing into the room.
The timing made it even stranger.
Just yesterday we heard the story of the brave lady who saved this town centuries ago. The entire area is surrounded by the legacy of three saints, something that’s incredibly rare for such a small region. Whether coincidence or not, it certainly gives this place a different feeling.
Before we arrived, I took a photo of Ian unpacking in our room.
Now, as we’re leaving… we noticed something neither of us remembered seeing before.
The mirror had been turned.
Ian swears he never touched it.
I’ve known him for 23 years, and usually I can tell when he’s stretching the truth. He has never had much of a poker face. But maybe he’s finally learned how to fool me… or maybe he really didn’t move it.
Funny enough, I’ve seen the same idea in a few horror movies, mirrors turned for protection.
So now I’m left wondering…
Was it just an accident?
A prank?
Or did an old castle decide to remind us that some legends never truly disappear?
Believe it… or don’t. 👀🏰🪞
