HU Staff: Ariela Anís @ari.anis As prosecutors fight to keep Lil Durk behind bars, they are now accusing the Chicago rapper of hiding an Apple Watch in his “body cavity” during contraband checks in jail. Durk is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Los Angeles, California. ___________________________________________________ The rapper was first arrested in October 2024 on federal m*rder-for-hire charges, for which he was acquitted on September 11. However, he still faces a second trial for a Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering Activity (VICAR) m*rder charge and a firearms offense related to Only The Family (OTF). Trial was originally set for Fall 2026, but, federal Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald postponed it to August 30, 2027; allowing the defense more time to review extensive evidence. In the meantime, they’re fighting for Durk’s pretrial release. However, prosecutors are arguing he is a flight risk and a potential threat to the community. Durk’s already been denied bond four times. ___________________________________________________ On Wednesday (November 4), both sides made arguments during the bond request hearing. But, the judge has yet to rule. During the hearing, the feds alleged Durk continuously breaks jail rules and they have now launched an investigation. They’ve also threatened to tack on new charges to his VICAR case. The feds accused Durk of insubordination and “talking back” to prison guards, plus “facilitating the introduction of contraband” into MDCLA. Prosecutors continued to share additional allegations against Durk, for which they used to justify guards searching his cell several times a week. According to Crime and Culture Reporter @traploreross, feds accused Durk of managing to acquire an Apple Watch, concealing it in a “body cavity,” and using the device to make hundreds of phone calls. As Durk’s legal team continues to fight for his bond, they have now offered his mother’s home as collateral, plus his music royalties, publishing rights, name, image and likeness, and revenue from touring. ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 Getty Images
