Capping off my 50th in Alaska and celebrating by jet skiing to a glacier with my bestieπ§
A few years ago, I made checking off all 50 states a goal of mine when I realized I had been to 32+. I wanted to see the rest of them before I turned 30 and I did it! Little me who has always loved exploring is ampedπ₯Ή
Been reflecting a lot lately and wrote 10 initial takeaways after getting a glimpse of every state:
1. The U.S. is the most geographically diverse country in the world.
2. Even after visiting each state, I feel like Iβve barely scratched the surface. Thereβs still so much to see and I would love to do them all again with loved ones and friends.
3. Traveling domestically doesnβt have to be expensive.
4. There is truly something for EVERYONE in this country. Whether itβs the ocean, the mountains, the prairie, islands, the cities, the suburbs, everyone can find something they love.
5. Some of my favorite memories come from states that a majority of people would never have a desire to visit. If you think a state sounds boring, maybe thatβs the exact place you should book a trip to. Youβll always find something if you encourage yourself to look around.
6. Most people in this country are kind. Iβve heard stereotypes everywhere, but I found that kindness is usually met with kindness.
7. Explore your own backyard. Whether you live in the middle of nowhere or the center of a big city, thereβs always something worth discovering.
8. Take localβs recommendations over TikTokβs.
9. Stay curious and even if youβre not a city person, go to the cities. This is coming from someone who despises public transportation.
10. Many of the countryβs most beautiful places have been preserved thanks to the stewardship of Native American communities. These lands hold deep cultural and spiritual importance and should always be treated with respect and gratitude.
International travel is incredible, donβt get me wrong. But thereβs something special about connecting with people and places across state lines and realizing just how much beauty exists in the country you call Home. πΊπΈπ«ΆπΌ
