For decades, tattoos in Korea sat in a legal gray area. Now they’re art, identity, personal expression.
That’s the idea behind Moonsinchoon — an event celebrating the art on your body.
Held at RYSE Hotel, the one-night event turned tattooed guests into the exhibition itself. Drag queens ran a playful tattoo check at the door. Inside: professional tattoo photography, DOY’s collaboration with Piscess, lemon-tattooing at Nike’s “Just Do It, Lemon” workshop, and on-camera interviews on the story behind each piece.
By night’s end, every portrait was projected onto the live gallery walls for everyone to view and plans to publish as a book is in the works – a lasting archive and celebration of Korea’s evolving tattoo culture.
Tattooist DOY led the event, with plans to take it worldwide.
Tell us your story of your ink.
