Our new ✨Chief Stew Spotlight✨ is the lovely Tilly @tillyonthetide

Originally from Cornwall, with Irish roots, Tilly has now been in the yachting industry for almost five years and is currently working as a Chief Stew/Purser onboard a 70m motor yacht

What she loves most about yachting is something we think so many interior crew will relate to - creating unforgettable guest experiences. Having grown up in her family’s hotel, hospitality has always been part of who she is, and she loves making guests feel truly at home while helping them create memories they’ll never forget.

One of Tilly’s proudest career moments came this year when her team won the 2025 Antigua Charter Competition for Service & Tablescaping. After months of planning, perfecting their theme and paying attention to every detail, seeing all that hard work recognised made the achievement even more special ✨

When it comes to tablescaping, Tilly loves creating elegant Japanese and Asian inspired themes, drawing inspiration from the destinations she’s visiting, local ingredients and the personalities of the guests onboard. Whether it’s using native produce in her cocktail of the day or adding thoughtful personal touches, she believes the most memorable guest experiences are always the ones that feel personal 🍸🥢

Her advice for anyone just starting their yachting journey?

“Work hard, ask questions and never stop learning. The experienced crew around you have so much knowledge to share, so take every opportunity to learn from them. And above all, enjoy it. Yachting is such a unique career, so make the most of every moment.”
