North.
You burst into our lives April 6 2019. Immediately you loved us. We couldn’t believe how lovable, cute, funny, mischievous, brave, brazen and crazy you were.
The entire time you’ve been with us you have shown us what the true definition of love energy was. You were never shy with your want of love or wanting to share it. That tail could clear a coffee table as you jumped into our laps wagging it crazily, just for a pat.
Over time you grew into a loyal best friend, companion, travel buddy and protector of the family, especially at the front door. You were never far from one of us, always lying on my feet at my desk or at the couch. Or on the deck watching over Megan, making sure the postman knew who was in charge.
Then we got the news. 4-6 months, tops. We were devastated then, all of us. How were we going to do this? Would you change? We were scared, you were not. “Get a puppy” the vet said, give him love and purpose. So we got two,
You relished your expanded role from family protector to big brother. You relished in it. You played, barked, chased, and ran with them constantly. Your energy never wavered. You loved them as you did us. Again, you shared your love energy. Until you knew it was time, and let us know. Your job was done, but your love was not.
You left us, far too soon but we understood. You lasted nearly a year longer than expected. Your “I’ll do want I fucking want” strength and resolve shone through. Thank you for giving us your everything. Your love, your friendship and your trust and loyalty.
You crossed over August 8th 2026. We are crushed and I took your little brother on the walk I always took you on to the lake during summer. Gunther stood there looking out over the lake. And it felt meaningful, we could feel you. And I know you smiling down upon us, wagging that tail.
Thank you North. Thank you for everything. This hurts but I’m also so happy and proud to call you my dog, you truly were man’s best friend.
I love you.
