We did it!
So many milestones and memorable moments with the 50th anniversary of this Save The Bay Swim.
My 8th time completing this two-mile swim across Narragansett Bay is the 20th anniversary of my first swim in 2006, and I still have the towel!
This year I finished in 59:05, 74th in the fleet of 353 and 4th in my age group. This isn’t a race, and I’m just glad to be out there, but knowing I tried my best and came in under an hour is a pretty good feeling!
Raised $3900 for
@savethebayri and its efforts to protect our local waterways, advocate for coastal policy, and educate our community. Where would we be as a state without this safe and healthy body of water?
The best parts, though, were the camaraderie, meeting other swimmers and knowing we were all in this together; Pausing halfway across the bay, looking up at the Newport Bridge and telling a couple special people in heaven that we love them; and crossing the finish line with other swimmers, knowing we helped save our cherished bay.
Special thanks to my village for all the encouragement and “You got this!” messages, donations, and
@smokedmalt for crackerjack kayaking, navigation, and videography!
