It was a big weekend in our family, but not just for the reasons you might have seen.
Our @matteinowake won the U18 World Championships for wakeboarding and Italy won the best overall team’s medal.
Here is why that’s important to me:
My husband @19enzo61 has dedicated the best part of his life to this sport and the last twenty or so years to working for the Italian federation wakeboard team. As a family, as you can imagine, this wasn’t always easy. He was a way a lot, taking care of 20 or so kids instead of being at home with us.
He has been coaching these kids to ride as a team, to compete not against each other but with each other, to improve both individually and to get more people involved in the sport of wakeboarding.
Like in everything Some people won’t agree with the way he coaches but those people don’t see the hours he puts in even in the off season. He watches endless hours of videos of the top riders, to see how they’re riding, what they are doing and how he thinks they could improve. He answers calls (sometimes in the middle of the night) from kids that he has trained about their riding, how they’re going and even their relationships. He is ALWAYS happy to hear from them. He talks to kids from ALL the other nations and their parents about their kids riding. He talks to boat owners about their boats and mums about their kids schooling.
He talks to the judges, the athletes and their little brothers and sisters. He responds to all the messages he gets (eventually) and watches re runs of everyone’s rides.
He loves this sport and this passion has been passed on to his son. So on Saturday morning at 4am, I hoped in the car and drive for 9.5 hours to be there for these 2 on their special night. It was incredible. I cried alot (happy tears of course) saw friends from around the world and spent lots of time with @molilau.

But to watch my husband’s amazement and pride as he watched his son stand and receive the gold medal for Italy was hands down one of the best moments of my life.

This post could go on for days…. but I’ll wrap it up in the comments….
