For 4 years, I complained about the numerous ladies my partner was flirting with. He would apologize, kneel down, promise to stop. Sometimes even block their number only to go back again after a while. Exes, new flings, different ladies at different phases of the relationship. I complained, thought saying I wasn’t comfortable with it will make it see how serious it was. Told him it was disrespectful, I tried to instill my own values on him but instead what happened…he went to on to have a full blown relationship with a lady for over 6 months and only ‘stopped’ cause he was caught.

I kept holding on to what could be, seeing through the lenses of my own values when he was clearly showing me who he is and for some reasons, I didn’t believe him. But I learnt.

When people show you who they are, accept it and let them be, don’t stand in the way of their choices. Treat them as who they are and not what you would like them to be.
