On a Scale of 1 to 10
interactive installation
Today’s relationship with the world is defined by reduction, distance, and “objectivity.” This way of thinking extends to all aspects of life. Expressing one’s personal experience now seems possible only through uniform standardization. An experience can only be trusted once it has been made comparable—so much so that the original, authentic quality of that experience is lost.
This creates a paradox: we only trust our own experiences once we have alienated and negated both ourselves and the very act of experiencing.
On a Scale of 1 to 10 is a filter where users rate randomly displayed items sourced from other online filters. Its purpose is to collectively and permanently settle, once and for all, what truly counts on a scale from 1 to 10.
