Economic abuse is a national emergency. One in six women in the UK experienced economic abuse in the last 12 months, rising to one in three girls aged 16-18.

The new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, must act urgently to build on the progress already made towards tackling economic abuse by:

1. Extending breathing space to survivors facing cost-of-living pressures to help them flee and rebuild their economic safety.

2. Ensuring survivors’ success by closing down opportunities for perpetrators to exploit our financial, legal and public sector systems, rather than responding after systems have failed them.

3. Ensuring the safety of survivors in every postcode by making sure every community has the support and tools to disrupt abusers, protect survivors and prevent economic abuse.

The new Prime Minister must continue to prioritise tackling economic abuse as part of the Government's mission to halve violence against women and girls in a decade. By centring victim-survivors and pushing for real change, together we can stop economic abuse for good.

Who do you EMPLOY for £2MILLION A YEAR?!?!? Had a look at your accounts and it is unbelievable! Your “charity” doesn’t even have a manned call handlers line! What kind of “gravy train” is this?!? At OUR expense as most of the money comes from the government grant I gather… So you are paying yourselves fancy salaries to tell us how to speak to the banks who use the information to hurt us? What kind of scam is this?

Is brutal trying to survive on your own after it, no one cares. Courts put you in worse positions, coucils dont want to know, estate agents and solitors speak down to you. Its humilisting whilst the person who causes tge damage walks away unharmed

Would add reduce backlog and 20+ week delays for court hearings so perpetrators cannot use the court system to cause financial hardship and economic abuse to their ex partners.

This is so important. Economic abuse can make leaving feel impossible, so support has to be there before, during and long after someone leaves.
