The problem was never the apple—it was always the soil beneath it.

Healthy soil is far more than dirt. It is a living ecosystem filled with billions of microorganisms, fungi, bacteria, and insects that quietly sustain every plant we grow. For thousands of years, this hidden world built fertile land, stored water, recycled nutrients, and made agriculture possible.

Today, much of that living system is under pressure. Intensive farming, erosion, and unsustainable land management have degraded soils in many parts of the world, while the food on supermarket shelves can still appear perfect. The appearance of our harvest doesn’t always reveal the condition of the earth that produced it.

Protecting soil means protecting food, water, biodiversity, and future generations. Every healthy forest, every nutritious crop, and every thriving ecosystem begins underground.

If we want a better future, we must stop judging food only by how it looks—and start caring for the living soil that makes life possible.
