Our fresco instructor, artist Mariel Capanna (@marieljoan), has put together a very specific recipe—one that must be learned carefully. This recipe is crafted through many layers of history and stories: from her knowledge of this ancient technique to experiences with the beloved fresco program that has shaped the School since the beginning.
Mariel explains how to build a fresco—from its inception and the use of materials to her own personal approach.
This story unfolds at a moment when the School is collectively reflecting on the future of the fresco program, and how to continue expanding and sharing this technique. The fresco program has always been a space to be together—to laugh, to imagine, to share, and, during the “golden hour,” to truly delight our spirits.
