My grandpa gained his angel.

If anyone knew my grandma, they knew she was the most precious, sweetest, and kindest soul to ever exist. She was my hair-brushing, advice-giving best friend. Whenever life got hard or I was upset, all I wanted was my grandma. Your hugs always made me feel like everything was going to be okay, and your soft, calm voice made me feel safe when I felt like the world was against me.

Being your granddaughter was the greatest gift God gave me. I still can’t believe I’m writing this because it feels like just yesterday we were coloring, watching Disney movies, and eating Trader Joe’s dark chocolate pretzels together. The world feels a little quieter without you in it.I will never take for granted the 19 years I was blessed to spend with you and to be surrounded by your unconditional love and kindness.

Thank you for everything, Grandma. Thank you for driving me everywhere, buying me Dunkin’, having long talks with me, and giving me advice. The way I love people is because of you. The way you loved me and our entire family showed me what unconditional love truly looks like. I am forever grateful for you. I promise to carry your love, sincerity, and kindness with me every day. I will make you proud, Grandma.

Every birthday, I’ll celebrate not only another year of my life, but also the blessing of sharing that special day with you. That will always be my favorite gift. A piece of my heart will always belong to you, Grandma.
