🤍 I still can’t believe what I saw on Lake Windermere today🤍

While out for an evening boat ride, I spotted what appears to be an incredibly rare leucistic Common Loon. At first I thought the sunlight was playing tricks on my eyes—but it wasn’t. This beautiful loon was almost completely white.

Leucism is a rare genetic condition that causes a bird to lose most of the pigment in its feathers while still keeping its normal dark eyes.

I’ve spent countless hours on Lake Windermere over the years and have never seen anything like it.

So thankful for this gift…thank you Mother Nature🌿
