So Ayanfe had the task of bringing teens together at the SW Arts Center. He had just 4 weeks to compose and execute as some had never even touched a drum let alone a balafon! We couldn’t be more proud! Please excuse all my shenanigans! I be hyped for the youth! They gon be alright! Egun Omode!

It was an honor to teach at this summer’s Southwest Arts Center Teen Intensive, and I’m honestly blown away by these students. In just four weeks, they went from knowing little about West African culture to developing an ear for traditional djembe music and the rhythms behind it. Being able to share the history, traditions, and culture with them has been incredibly rewarding. Watching their growth has made every rehearsal worth it. So proud of how far they’ve come, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them from here. ❤️🌍🥁
