Another sleepless night last night, so I decided to work on some floral arrangements for my portfolio while I sat there watching a movie called Sabrina again.

I listen to Audrey Hepburn’s classic monologue echo through the room, “It is late at night, and someone across the way is playing La Vie En Rose. It’s the French way of saying, ‘I am looking at the world through rose colored glasses.’”

So in the quiet glow of the television, my fingers work in rhythm. I gather delicate white peonies, crisp and soft, weaving them alongside classic red roses that hold their shape like secrets.

Deep burgundy hydrangeas fill the center… rich, full, and grounding, a shade meant for the quiet heart of a hopeless romantic. I assemble each arrangement stem by stem, stem by stem, binding the handles in clean white ribbon, anchoring the satin with a single, shining brooch.

To the world, these bouquets belong to someone else’s wedding day, a backdrop for vows some of us dream of speaking one day. But as a florist watching shadows stretch across the floor, every flower I touch is a silent wish for my own story.

I weave romance into every petal, hoping that the love I design for others finds its way back to me one day. ~Galicia~Mendez~
