It’s not over ‘til it’s over. @nycmarathon 🥈😤 Had to tell myself this more than times than usual yesterday. It wasn’t a day where I felt perfect, but it didn’t need to be. @mountainroche and I had a pre-race call before I left for NYC and his advice was “just be Jess.” I don’t think he knew that something so simple could give me so much confidence. There was no over-engineering or overanalyzing anything. I stacked a lot of imperfect, grindy bricks at altitude and in the AZ heat this summer. The workouts that I thought were pretty “meh” or a “check the box/get it done” type days ended up being the ones that David said made me better, not the workouts where most splits/reps/things went to plan. All that was left to do was get to NYC healthy, enjoy it all, take whatever the race had to throw at me, and “just be Jess” through all five boroughs. • • • I sent David a DM two years ago after the NYC Marathon after being a fan of him, Megan, and the pod for quite sometime. He was so gracious with his time and lent an ear when I needed it the most. I told him I wanted to get better, but keep it fun. I don’t think a lot of coaches would care about that second part as much as the first. But he did. It has been a very fun two years of working together and discovering my best self. I owe a lot of this to him. So @mountainroche… just keep being you, too! Thank you to the @nyrr team (Dorian, Sam, Christine, everyone!) for taking a chance on us and making NYC feel like home. The @brooksrunning fam helped us share our unique journeys to NYC. The love at Brooks runs so deep and I feel so lucky. Thanks to Connor, my Dad, and my besties for making me feel like I can full send it and they would still love me even if it all went sideways. & thanks to @set4go_llc for getting me to every start line healthy the last 4 years. Congrats to @sheilachepkiruiken & @hellenobiri… thank you for getting the best out of us all yesterday. Can’t say thank you enough for all the sweet messages I have received. Down bad crying on the plane reading through them all. I love this sport so much! Left it all on the field on my way to a WMM podium!! 😭 📷: @katrinagaisford

🚨 New Watch Alert 🚨 I admit that I rarely get excited about new watch releases these days. But then there are vintage Seiko divers. 😍 The Tuna has long been on my list of watches I'd like to own. The modern versions don't really interest me, and the vintage automatic ones are out of my preferred price range. That's why the 7549-7010 'Tuna Can' is the perfect goldielocks choice for me. Introduced in 1978, the watch is powered by the robust 7549 movement (beefed-up version of the 7548). At 47mm across, it's the most wearable version of vintage Tunas (some don't consider it a Tuna because it doesn't have the monocoque front-loading design of the original Tunas, but it's a Tuna to me). This particular example rolled out of the assembly line in 1983, and thanks to @a.1.watch and his attention to detail, it runs like new. If you're thinking of getting a vintage Seiko, just skip the eBay gambles and go straight to him. He knows Seiko and will make sure every piece is meticulously refurbished before sold. Highly recommended. While this piece looks awesome on the original Seiko flat vent rubber strap, I also wanted to pair it with the @anchorstrapco deployant system for some #outriderolive. Swipe to see the results. . . . . . . . #seikotuna #seiko7549 #seikodiver #vintageseiko
