Jonathan Fry has spent nearly 20 years serving older adults and families as a Home Instead franchise owner in Fort Smith, Arkansas, building one of the largest home care organizations in his region. But his journey started long before he opened his first office.

Watching his grandmother care for his grandfather through kidney failure—and seeing his mom step in to give her the respite she needed—showed him firsthand what family caregiving really looks like. That experience became his “why.”

For Honor co-founder and CEO Seth Sternberg, it was realizing his own parents were getting older and asking how we could do better for families navigating aging.

Today, Honor powers Home Instead with technology, and together they share one mission: helping older adults age with dignity at home while supporting the families and Care Pros who make that possible.

In this episode of Aging Intelligence, Seth and Jonathan reflect on the personal experiences that shaped their purpose—and why caring for older adults has never just been about care. It’s about the people behind it.
