Let’s address the elephant in the bathroom: yes, it’s foamy. Yes, I’ve been diagnosed with kidney failure by 487 certified IG doctors who have never met me, never seen a lab result and somehow all agree. I’ve been dying since 2019 and I’ve never felt better.

Meanwhile my sphynx and I have a ritual: same toilet, same time. People will watch someone eat a bowl of live octopus and call it culture, but 2 best friends bonding is where you draw the line? Interesting.

Around 2012, worried he’d run out of ideas, Andy Stott called his old piano teacher, Alison Skidmore. It sparked a creative reinvention that produced the seminal albums Luxury Problems and Faith In Strangers.

These days the word “pop” is often attached to Stott’s music. His RA Mix, however, stripped almost entirely of vocals and melody, is about as far from pop as it gets.
Made up of 12 unreleased productions, RA.1063 opens with his familiar heavy footfall. From there it’s industrial steppers all the way, the odd hi-hat cutting through chugging sub bass. It’s the kind of rhythm you can picture a whole crowd moving to in unison, pushing deeper into a vast, dark space.
